Building Exterior Improvement Grant Program (BIG Program)
The DDA offers grant programs for eligible improvements to the exteriors of commercial properties located within the DDA district. This is a matching grant program, with applicants potentially receiving up to 50% of the cost of eligible improvements. Monies are available for improvements such as signage, lighting, paint, and other work to exteriors on a first-come, first-served basis. In 2007-2008 the DDA earmarked $40,000 for this program of which approximately $11,000 is available at this time.

Recreation:
Lake Orion, a 492-acre lake, located in the boundaries of the Village, provides residents with local access to fishing, boating, swimming and water sports. Nearby Paint Creek Trail and Polly Ann Trail provide 23 miles of trail in the former railroad right-of-ways, connecting to many more miles of a regional, tri-county trailway system.
Transportation:
The Village is served by M-24 which joins with 1-75 and 1-69 and provides access to all other major highways. North Oakland Transportation Authority (NOTA) provides dial-a-ride service.
Education:
Oakland Community College and Oakland University offer classes at their main campuses and at various locations throughout the County to students interested in certificate programs, two and four year degrees and graduate studies. |
