The second annual Lapeer Road Country Cruise will be held on Saturday, June 27th, 2009. It is a country cruise where cruisers and spectators will be driving on an 25 mile stretch of Lapeer Road through Lake Orion, the Village of Oxford, the Village of Metamora and the City of Lapeer Michigan. Each community will host events and other activities throughout the weekend. Please remember to obey all traffic laws and make sure your vehicles being driven are street legal, licensed and insured. You’ll feel ready to jump and jive with this high-energy performance by the 15-piece Rhythm Society Orchestra. The night will overflow with fun songs from the 30s and 40s big-band swing era, played in the beautiful surroundings of Lost Lake Nature Park.
Note no general parking on-site, please park at Cranberry Lake Park and utilize the shuttle bus service for this concert.

Poetry & Creative Writing Workshop with Margo Lagattuta
Six weeks beginning Thursday June 25 - August 6, 2009

The Orion Township Public Library is pleased to present a six week Poetry and Creative Writing Workshop for adults hosted by local, award-winning poet, writer, essayist and teacher Margo Lagattuta, MFA. The six-week workshop will support the library’s “Get Creative” summer reading theme. During this six week workshop, Ms. Lagattuta will help writers of all skill levels find their creativity and develop their writing skills. If you have always wanted to be a writer or if you are looking for a way to refine your writing skills, this workshop is for you.

North Oakland County Art Festival - Olde World Canterburry Village

Olde World Canterbury Village is a 19th century village and designated historical landmark; it is host to 18 specialty shops and wonderful features including Aldridge’s Always Christmas shop & carousel, Canterbury Toy World, The Celtic Connection, Village Quilt shop, Canterbury Fudge Shoppe. Restaurants include Kings Court Castle Restaurant or the Clansman Gaelic Pub. There’s something for everyone. More info at www.CanterburyVillage.com.
Approximately 125 high quality juried artists from around the world will participate. There are all mediums of art work including paintings, clay, glass, fiber, wood, jewelry, sculpture, photography and more. In addition to the great art work, there are live art demonstrations happening throughout the event, free entertainment, great food and Tween Art Competition for kids ages 13-19 which allows them to enter their art work to be publicly displayed and chance to win a cash prize. There is free admission and free parking. |
